机构简介

LAPA is an acronym for Reading Afrikaans, Speaking Afrikaans. We mainly publish Afrikaans books, but also publish some titles in English. Affordable books for every age group and taste are LAPA's goal. We know it's important for children to read books in their mother tongue, so we offer a selection of contemporary, exciting children's and youth stories. Nice stories are the prerequisite for LAPA's fiction. There is tension and murder, love stories and general fiction. The Romanza Club provides original South African novels at affordable prices. The non-fiction section covers a wide variety of topics, from cooking and craft to spiders and criminals, and everything in between. Our readers are important to us, so our standards are high. The editors are struggling with the development of writers and manuscripts. It's not easy to become a LAPA writer, but those who do publish with us know that buyers see LAPA as a trusted brand. Our writers have not won numerous prizes for free. LAPA comes from afar. Before World War II, the late Johannes Petrus van der Walt started a publication program, Springbok Library, under the banner of the then Union Bookstore. Through the War, Springbok Library continued its operations, although paper rationing prevented the company from growing. In 1958, J.P. van der Walt's son, Manie, joined as managing director. In 1961, the company was renamed J.P. van der Walt and Son (Pty.) Ltd. This name would have been synonymous with club books for many years. In October 1996, the ATKV bought the company. The name of the company was then changed to LAPA - a book house within which readers can feel secure. LAPA knows that most readers still prefer a book, but our stories are also available in e-format. There are also exciting apps for the younger generation.
